On average, the lifespan of an electric scooter battery lasts between 300 to 500 cycles. That's around one to three years or 3,000 to 10,000 miles. However, your e-scooter battery's lifespan depends on several factors, such as its battery size and watt-hours.

Once you reach the 300 to 500 cycles of your battery, it does not mean that your battery will die. Your battery will simply carry less capacity, so your e-scooter will perform with less power. However, whether your battery is brand new or has already reached over 500 cycles, taking care of it will help you get the most out of it.

Most electric scooters use a lithium battery. That is good because lithium batteries hold their charge for a long time. But it also makes them expensive. That means that the cost of riding an electric scooter depends on how much power you use.

Every e-scooter manufacture makes a load test and recommends the maximum load that an electric scooter can carry. However, it may vary along with the models, generally an electric scooter with a maximum carrying capacity ranging from 100 kg to 200 kg.

Most companies rate it with 150 kg, which is slightly lower than what they test to maintain an adequate tolerance margin even if the electric scooter is loaded with more load. If you overload your e-scooter, it will affect the battery in the long run.

Avoid sudden acceleration

While using an electric vehicle, you need to remember that you are not riding a petrol vehicle; making sudden acceleration puts pressure on the battery, which is also an important point to remember and needs to be taken care of.

Don't drain your battery

One of the ways to make an electric scooter battery last longer is never to drain it. Fully draining then fully charging a battery may suit some devices, but that's not the case for electric scooter batteries. Try to keep the battery above a 10% to 40% charge.

Try not to use the fastest speed mode when riding or climbing steep hills, especially when your e-scooter is not made for climbing. Doing this will strain your battery and drain your battery faster.

Ultimately, the best way to avoid draining your battery is to charge it after every use. This way, you know that your electric scooter always has a charge.
